Les millors pel·lícules de la història. L'etern debat de la indústria cinematogràfica torna a posar-se sobre la taula després d'un immens reportatge del mitjà especialitzat The Hollywood Reporter. Els grans directors de les productores i distribuïdores, creadors, guionistes, crítics, intèrprets... més de dues mil persones han estat entrevistades pel diari per tal de poder elaborar la llista definitiva.

La perspectiva, però, està marcada al màxim per Hollywood i el contingut dels Estats Units. No hi surt cap pel·lícula feta fora del país ni de cap autor que no sigui de Hollywood. La llista, per tant, és esbiaixada i és aquesta:
